SLIPPERS

WRITTEN BY Jeda de Brí & Finbarr Doyle

DIRECTED BY Jeda de Brí

Sarah and Jean's mother was a hoarder. Today, the estranged sisters are cleaning out their family home after her passing. As they discover the depths of their mother's habits, they come to terms with the long-lasting effects of their upbringing. Slippers is a dark journey into obsessive behaviours and their generational ripples.

Slippers was the first play staged as part of the Sickle Moon Residency in Theatre Upstairs 2014. It was the first original play from the company. It ran from March 25th - April 5th 2014

...dazzlingly effective, a clear-sighted little examination of the reality of some “mother-love”... it’s tautly directed by de Brí, with an excellent set by Aoife Fealy.
— THE SUNDAY INDEPENDENT
An absorbing production that dismantles outwardly civilised relationships.
Writers Finbarr Doyle and Jeda de Brí, who also directs, have come up with a play that justifies the existence of small theatres. ★★★★
— THE IRISH MAIL ON SUNDAY
Aoife Fealy’s design does an admirable job of amassing bric-a-brac, while de Brí manoeuvres the siblings carefully and confrontationally around the debris.
A revealing, understated comedy... delicately constructed and subtly performed.
